William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England in 1564(?) and died on 1616 (a lot of historians don't know his exactly birth and death dates). He was a playwright and poet, the best poet in English language, for this reason he's called England's national poet. He lived during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, and we can say that he was the English Cervantes, because both writters lived at the same time. Cervantes and Shakespeare died on 1616. His surviving works, including some collaborations, consist of about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.
